A Floating Boutique Hotel on the Nile
The Alexander The Great Nile Cruise began life as a standard 60-cabin Nile cruiser. It was then stripped to its shell and rebuilt as a 30-suite floating boutique hotel — a transformation that produced one of the most distinctive vessels currently sailing between Luxor and Aswan. Renovated in 2023, the Alexander The Great is a 70-metre ship carrying a maximum of 30 suites across four decks — roughly half the guest count of a typical Nile cruiser — which fundamentally changes the character of life on board: a quieter sun deck, a dining room that never feels crowded, and crew who genuinely learn your preferences within the first 24 hours.
Each of the 30 suites is individually designed, blending colour, texture, and atmosphere in a way that feels more like a design hotel than a standard ship cabin. All suites measure approximately 25–30 m², face outward with panoramic Nile views, and include a private bathroom with a full-size bathtub, 100% Egyptian cotton towels and bathrobes, hairdryer, vanity mirror, mini-bar, satellite LCD TV, and personal safe. Five suites have the additional benefit of a private lounge, terrace with unobstructed Nile views, and all-day butler service. Independent reviewers on Tripadvisor and Booking.com have called it “uncontestably the best semi-private cruise on the Nile”, praised the food as “amazing — five-course à la carte evening meals”, and noted that the top deck is “never crowded.”
Two itinerary options are available: a 4-day / 3-night cruise departing Aswan every Friday from $679 per person (summer season), and a 5-day / 4-night cruise departing Luxor every Monday from $859 per person (summer season). Winter prices (October–April) start from $829 per person in triple sharing and $849 in double sharing. Both packages include full-board dining, all temple entrance fees, a private licensed Egyptologist guide, and air-conditioned transfers. Children Policy
First child under 6 years sharing parents’ cabin travels free. Children aged 6–11 are charged 50% of the adult rate (maximum one child sharing per cabin). Children aged 12 and over are charged the full adult fare.

Overview
The Alexander The Great Nile Cruise is one of the most distinctive boutique vessels on the Nile. Originally a 60-cabin ship, it was stripped and rebuilt as a 30-suite floating boutique hotel — renovated in 2023 — carrying just 30 guests at a time. Reviewers consistently praise the exceptional service, the à la carte five-course evening dining, and the calm, uncrowded atmosphere that only a 30-suite ship can deliver. Two itinerary options: 4 days / 3 nights from Aswan every Friday from $679/person (summer), and 5 days / 4 nights from Luxor every Monday from $859/person (summer). Winter rates (October–April) from $829/person (triple) or $849/person (double). Both include full-board dining, all temple fees, a private Egyptologist, and transfers.
